Wissensproduktion und Wissensverwertung in Österreich im internationalen Vergleich (Knowledge Production and Utilisation in Austria in an International Comparison)
Österreich hat die monetären Ressourcen für die Wissensproduktion und -verwertung in den letzten Jahrzehnten auf ein Niveau
über jenem der führenden Innovationsländer der EU gesteigert. Eine Ausnahme bilden die Ausgaben für Universitäten. Leistungsindikatoren,
etwa für Publikationen, Patente und innovationsintensive Start-ups, zeigen dagegen deutliche Aufholpotenziale, insbesondere
im Vergleich mit weltweit führenden Ländern. Die anhaltenden Leistungsprobleme sowie neue Herausforderungen für die FTI-Politik,
wie Klimawandel und technologische Souveränität, rufen nach einer mikrodatengestützten Evaluierung des FTI-Systems.

Knowledge Production and Utilisation in Austria in an International Comparison
Austria has increased monetary resources for knowledge production and utilisation in recent decades to a level above that
of the leading innovation countries in the EU, with the exception of universities. However, performance indicators, such as
for publications, patents and innovation-intensive start-ups, show clear catch-up potential, especially in comparison with
leading countries worldwide. The continuing performance problems as well as new challenges for RTI policy such as climate
change and technological sovereignty recommend a micro-data-based evaluation of the RTI system.
